The London Olympic Games will be held between 27 July and 12 August 2012 and the Paralympic Games take place between 29 August and 9September 2012. London won the bid beating the favourite, Paris, making London the first city to host the games three times.

The Olympics will be hosted by venues such as The Aquatics Centre for diving and swimming, The Olympic Stadium for athletics and ceremonies, The London Velodrome for cycling and many more.
The Baskest Arena, Handball Arena and Water Polo Arena will also feature in the Olympic Park. Other London venues include Earls Court, Excel, Wembley Arena, Wembley Stadium, Lords cricket ground, Hyde Park, and there will also be use of Wimbeldon for tennis.
